New Cloud Solution: A Major Step Forward for Afosto and Its Customers
By Sander Kah
In December 2024, Afosto reached an important milestone: the successful migration to a completely new hybrid cloud infrastructure. This change is not just a technical update; it is a strategic decision that has significantly improved the stability, speed, and user-friendliness of our applications. In this article, we explain what this migration entails, why we made this move, and how it directly benefits you as a customer.
Why the switch to a new infrastructure?
Over the past years, we relied on an external hosting provider with extensive experience. While this worked well for a long time, we noticed increasing issues with stability and speed in recent months. This led to frustration, both for our customers and for us. Therefore, we decided to take back full control of our hosting. This allows us to have greater control over our systems and respond more quickly to challenges.
Our choice for a hybrid cloud solution enables us to combine the benefits of different providers. By using Hetzner, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, we can rely on a future-proof infrastructure that is both flexible and reliable.
What does the new cloud solution entail?
Our new infrastructure is based on a hybrid cloud model. This means that we distribute our systems across multiple providers and data centers. Since the migration, Afosto’s applications are hosted in four different data centers located in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and England. This setup offers several significant advantages:
- Scalability: We can easily adjust the capacity of our systems to accommodate the growth of our business and that of our customers.
- Speed: Thanks to advanced cloud technology, webshops are faster than ever.
- Reliability: Distributing across multiple data centers minimizes the risk of downtime and enhances stability.
- Future-Proof: This infrastructure is ready to grow with the demands of the e-commerce market.
What does this mean for you?
With this new infrastructure, we offer you direct benefits as a customer:
- Faster webshops: Visitors to your webshop benefit from shorter load times, enhancing user experience and conversions.
- Improved stability: Downtime is minimized, ensuring your webshop is always available.
- Ease of use: The performance of our applications is back to the trusted high level.
- Better future-readiness: Our new cloud solution allows us to innovate more quickly and develop new features that further support the growth of your e-commerce business.
The power of working with multiple providers
By using Hetzner, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, we combine the strengths of these three leading providers. This hybrid model ensures we remain flexible and can always choose the best solution for specific challenges. Moreover, it allows us to continuously optimize our infrastructure so that you always benefit from the latest technology.
A joint step forward
At Afosto, we believe in continuous improvement. The switch to this new cloud solution is an important step in fulfilling our promise: providing the best solutions to help your e-commerce business grow. We are proud of what we have achieved and look forward to continuing to support you with stable, fast, and user-friendly applications in the future.
