Connecting Shopify to Afosto

In this guide we show you how to connect Shopify with Afosto so you can synchronize orders, shipments, cancellations, returns and stock changes between Afosto and Shopify.

Step 1: Create a Shopify Access Token

To connect Shopify with Afosto you need an API key (also called an Access Token). This guide explains how to obtain one.

Step 2: Create an app in Afosto

Now that you have created an API key in Shopify, you can use it to create a Shopify app in Afosto. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Administration > My organisation > Apps > Orders > Shopify.

  2. Click Add in the top right corner.

  3. Enter the API key and the name of your Shopify store.

  4. Click 'Connect' to link the app.

INFO: Name of your Shopify store You can find this store name in the URL of your Shopify admin panel: my-store-name.myshopify.com. You only need "my-store-name".

Step 3: Configure the Shopify App

After entering the API key and store name you can start configuring the Shopify app. The configuration consists of the following options:

  • Do you want to synchronize orders from Shopify to Afosto? Check the checkbox for "Synchronize".

  • Do you want to synchronize cancellations between Shopify and Afosto (in both directions)? Check the checkbox for "Synchronize cancellations".

  • Do you want to synchronize stock changes from Afosto to Shopify? Check "Synchronize stock changes".

  • Select an Afosto and Shopify channel in the dropdowns to import orders into the correct sales channel. By using different sales channels you can apply different automated processes and rules per channel, for example to distinguish between online orders and POS orders.

  • Synchronize from: This setting lets you import historical orders from Shopify (up to 90 days back). If you do not need this, you can skip this field.

Tracking stock changes

When you want to synchronize stock changes from Afosto to Shopify, you have two options:

  1. Mirror the stock 1-to-1 from the Afosto location to the Shopify location.

  2. Track all Afosto stock at one location in Shopify.

If you choose option 1, the stock will be linked to the locations you have specified under "Set up locations". If you choose option 2, you need to set one specific location as your central stock location. To do this, enable the option "Synchronize all stock to 1 location" and then select the location where all stock should be written to.

Step 4: Wait for orders to come in

When you indicated during the configuration of the Shopify app that it should synchronize orders, you will see the first orders appear in your account within a few minutes and the connection with Shopify is complete.

New orders will also appear in Afosto a few minutes after they appear in Shopify.
