Transparent pricing, no transaction fees: here is how it really works
At Afosto you pay a fixed price per month, based on your order volume. No hidden costs, no transaction fees. Take a look at our pricing page for all packages.

What you do pay elsewhere: many POS systems look attractively priced at first. Shopify, for example, charges 28 euros per month for the Basic plan, but if you want POS Pro, another 79 euros per location is added on top. And then there are the transaction fees: 1.25% or more per card payment, plus extra surcharges if you choose your own payment provider. (Shopify.nl) As also discussed on Kassazaak.nl, where various POS systems are compared.
Lightspeed does something similar. Their subscriptions start around 99 euros, but on top of your monthly costs you also pay per transaction the moment you use an external payment provider such as Mollie. With larger volumes or multiple branches, those costs can add up considerably.
What you do not pay at Afosto: with Afosto you pay no transaction fees. No percentages, no surcharges, no penalty for using your own PSP. You sign your own contract with a party such as Mollie or Adyen, and that is it. You know exactly where you stand.

Example case: Jeweller Nova and the cost of Shopify POS
Average volume, average order value
Jeweller Nova is a growing jewellery shop in Utrecht with one physical location and a Shopify webshop. They sell handmade jewellery to tourists and local customers, and process an average of 200 orders per week in the shop, which is around 800 transactions per month. The average order value is 60 euros.
With their current setup they use Shopify POS Pro. That means that in addition to the Shopify Grow subscription of 78 euros per month, they also pay 79 euros for the POS Pro location. On top of that they pay transaction fees of 1% because they use an external payment provider. With monthly revenue of 48,000 euros (800 x 60), that comes to no less than 480 euros in transaction fees. In total, Jeweller Nova therefore pays 78 + 79 + 480 = 637 euros per month for their POS system.
If Nova were to switch to Afosto POS, they would be more than covered with the Serious subscription of 149 euros per month. They use their existing Mollie account for payments, which means they pay no transaction fees at Afosto. Their total costs per month would then be just 149 euros.
The saving? More than 450 euros per month, or nearly 6,000 euros per year. Money they can better invest in new collections, marketing or expanding their physical shop.
For a business like Jeweller Nova, this means that with Afosto POS they not only keep control of their costs, but also save considerably, money they can invest in marketing, staff or inventory. And that only grows as you sell more.
At Afosto you pay a fixed price per month, based on your order volume. No hidden costs, no transaction fees.
Case 2: Atelier de Woonloods and the cost of Lightspeed POS
Low volume, high order value
Atelier de Woonloods is an exclusive furniture shop in Haarlem with a focus on custom work and design. They sell mainly from their showroom, aimed at customers who invest in quality. On average they process 60 transactions per month, with an average order value of 1,200 euros. That comes to a monthly revenue of 72,000 euros.
They currently use Lightspeed Retail POS with the eCom module. For this they pay:
-
149 euros per month for the Retail Essential subscription.
-
200 euros extra (estimate) per month in costs for using an external payment provider (depending on contract/volume, estimate based on market info)
Total costs per month with Lightspeed: 149 + 200 = 349 euros
Case 3: Gift shop Blij & Bijzonder and the cost of Afosto POS
High volume, low order value
Gift shop Blij & Bijzonder is a busy gift shop in Groningen, specialising in fun, affordable gifts. With an average of 1,500 physical shop orders per month and an average order value of 18 euros, their monthly revenue comes to 27,000 euros.
At Afosto they choose the Serious subscription of 149 euros per month. This subscription covers up to 3,000 order lines per month, more than enough for their 1,500 orders. They use their existing payment provider such as Mollie, for which Afosto charges no extra costs.
Total costs at Afosto: 149 euros per month Transaction fees: 0 euros
