The challenge

Why did FrancisbyFB choose Afosto?

FrancisbyFB grew fast over the summer: order volumes went up five to six times, peaking at around 400 orders a day. That peak coincided with the holiday season, so packing largely came down to new and temporary staff. Their previous platform, Stockitup, had no address validation. Every address had to be checked by eye before printing a label. If you skipped a faulty order, that same order simply reappeared in the next pick list, without any warning or suggestion. Deviating international formats, like the Latvian 'LV' prefix before the postal code that DPD does not accept, got stuck. And international orders to the US, for example, sometimes came in incomplete from Shopify without any notice. Faulty addresses were often only spotted late: when a parcel came back or a customer reached out. On top of that, the organisation leaned heavily on one or two experienced employees who knew all the rules. General Manager Boris was constantly interrupted with lists of problem orders via email and WhatsApp. With further growth ahead, that was not sustainable.

The approach

How did Afosto help FrancisbyFB move forward?

With Afosto, FrancisbyFB processes orders error-free and at scale. Faulty addresses are automatically filtered out of the pick list and placed on a separate 'attention needed' list: everything that is in the pick list is safe to print. If an address is wrong, Afosto offers a concrete suggestion you accept with one click, such as removing the Latvian 'LV' prefix or completing a missing detail. Smart pick lists, with a cover sheet showing quantities and checkboxes, follow FrancisbyFB's process exactly. Different label formats, such as A4 for MyParcel, automatically route to the right printer, without manually downloading through the browser. All data from Shopify is carried over in full; if an address only resolves to street level or a house number is missing, a notification follows right away. The collaboration went beyond delivering software: for several features FrancisbyFB effectively acted as Afosto's test customer. Their feedback and daily practice formed the basis for improvements to address validation and automated printing, among other things. What was built for FrancisbyFB now benefits other webshops too.

How FrancisbyFB uses Afosto

All Shopify orders in one OMS
Orders from the Shopify store come together in the Afosto OMS, where they are ready for processing in a single overview. That keeps the order flow clear, even when it gets busy.
Bundled picklists
Afosto bundles orders into smart picklists, so the team picks several orders in one round. That cuts walking time and keeps throughput high.
Shipping labels printed automatically
When a parcel is prepared, Afosto prints the shipping label automatically through the carrier integration. No manual retyping, fewer errors and faster out the door.
Picking with the scan app
With the mobile WMS app the team picks at fixed locations and confirms each line with a scan. That prevents mispicks and keeps stock accurate.
Address check on entry
Afosto checks addresses when the order is created, so a wrong or incomplete address surfaces before the parcel leaves. That reduces failed deliveries and returns.

Implementation

FrancisbyFB sells through Shopify and wanted a way to handle a growing order flow quickly and without errors. Afosto connected the Shopify store to the OMS and WMS, so orders, picking, labelling and shipping come together in one system instead of separately.

What comes next

With order and warehouse management in one place, FrancisbyFB can absorb peaks and keep growing without the operation seizing up. New channels or volumes plug into the same flow.

Frequently asked questions

Why did FrancisbyFB switch from Stockitup to Afosto?

Their previous platform had no address validation: every address had to be checked manually before printing a label, and skipped problem orders kept reappearing in the pick list. At 400 orders a day with a team of many new employees, that was not sustainable.

How does Afosto's automatic address validation work at FrancisbyFB?

Faulty addresses are automatically filtered out of the pick list and placed on a separate 'attention needed' list. Afosto offers a concrete suggestion you accept with one click, such as correcting a deviating international postal code format. Everything in the pick list is safe to print.

How many faulty shipments does FrancisbyFB intercept per day?

At around 400 orders a day, 20 to 40 faulty shipments are intercepted automatically before they leave the building. Previously, 5 to 10% of addresses contained an error that was often only discovered after shipping.

How quickly are new warehouse employees up to speed at FrancisbyFB?

Within a day or two, new employees work along without making mistakes, because the error-prone steps are already caught by the system. The organisation no longer depends on one or two experienced key people.

Does Afosto work with FrancisbyFB's Shopify webshop?

Yes. All order data from Shopify is carried over in full to Afosto. If an address only resolves to street level or a house number is missing on an international order, a notification follows immediately instead of an undeliverable parcel.
