Connecting PrintNode to Afosto

With PrintNode you print from Afosto directly to the printers on your computer, such as a label printer or the printer for your packing slips. You install PrintNode on the computer your printers are connected to and sign in with the credentials you find in Afosto.

What you need

A computer running Windows, macOS, Linux, Ubuntu or a Raspberry Pi, with your printers available on it.
Access to the Afosto admin.

Step 1: Activate the spooler in Afosto

Go to admin.afosto.app/spooler.
Activate the spooler.
After activating, you see the credentials for PrintNode. You need them in step 3.

You can always view the credentials again later on the same page.

Step 2: Download and install PrintNode

Go to printnode.com/en/download.
Download the version that matches your computer. PrintNode is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi.
Install PrintNode.

Open PrintNode. It asks you to sign in.
Enter the credentials you found in Afosto in step 1.
Sign in.

PrintNode is now connected to Afosto. From now on, you can use all printers available on your computer from Afosto.

Step 4: Print from Afosto

When you print in Afosto, you choose which printer to send the job to.

Using the scan app? Set a printer once via Settings > Printer in the scan app.

Note: keep the computer switched on

Afosto sends print jobs to your printers through PrintNode. The computer running PrintNode therefore needs to stay switched on, with PrintNode running. If the computer is off or PrintNode is closed, you can't print to those printers from Afosto.

Finding PrintNode

PrintNode runs in the background. Where you find it depends on your computer:

Mac: in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Windows: in the system tray at the bottom right of the taskbar. Don't see the icon? Click the arrow to show hidden icons.
Linux, Ubuntu and Raspberry Pi: in the applications menu.

On any computer you can also find PrintNode through the search function.
